Spring Branch & Memorial High Schools

Caribbean Cruise

Classes 1959 - 1963

Day 1 - April 30, 2006

On April 30, 2006, friends from the Spring Branch High School classes of 1959 to 1963 met in Galveston and boarded the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Rhapsody of the Seas, bound for 7 days and nights of good times.  There were somewhere around 50 people from the 4 classes.  We all want to thank Jerry Simington(1961) and Susie Keiser (1961) for putting this together and inviting other classes to join in.  A lot of the photos that I have included here are courtesy of Jerry, Sharon Leigh, Bobby Lorino, Pat Rabon, and Anna Maynard.  Spending the night at the Galvez, some of the group met for Happy Hour and dinner.  We were able to see old friends and make new ones.  Spending the night  insured we would not miss the ship which left at about 4:00 pm Sunday.  Sunday was getting to the ship, and relaxing.  We were on the go for the next 7 days, but it was still relaxing.  About the time we got settled in, unpacked, and got dressed again, it was time for dinner.  The whole group had dinner together each evening, switching tables so we could meet and become friends with those we hadn't met during our school days.   Highlight for day 1 - I guess just getting underway, or maybe muster.

The Old Hotel Galvez - Was it always this nice?

Don't remember since I didn't spend a lot of time

 in Galveston during high school.

Galveston docks - on the way out of town.

Passing the Carnival Ship, we took it off the line.

Leaving Carnival in the dust.

Let the party begin.  You notice no SBHS in that

group.

Out in the Gulf, a little more crowded than I

 expected.

It's late in the evening and Carnival is finally

catching up.  They were gone the next morning.
